ABOUT Leadership History
|
Elliott Laws serves as Counsel with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, D.C., providing strategic counseling and legal, legislative and policy advice on domestic and international environmental and energy policy issues and litigation. Prior to joining CG&S, Elliott was president of Safety, Health and Environment, for Texaco Inc. As Assistant Administrator for Solid Waste and Emergency Response at the Environmental Protection Agency, he was responsible for regulatory and policy development and implementation for solid and hazardous waste management. This included the Superfund, RCRA, Brownfields and underground storage tank programs. Formerly, he was a Justice Department and EPA attorney and a Manhattan Assistant District Attorney. At the law firm of Patton Boggs, Elliott worked in the Environment Health & Safety and Public Policy groups. He also served as executive director of the Outlook Policy Forum, a not-for-profit group devoted to energy, environmental and economic issues. Elliott holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University and a B.A. degree in Government and Politics, and Speech Communication from St. John's University. Elliott is Board member of the Trust for
Public Land and the Environment and Energy Study Institute. The former
Secretary-Treasurer and Board member of the Environmental Law Institute,
Elliott authors the "The Business of Environment," published
in the Environmental Forum. He is a former council member of the American
Bar Association's Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, and
the ABA Standing Committee on Environmental Law and currently serves
as the groups liaison. He is the founding president of the Council
of Environmental Professionals, a national association of African-American
environmental professionals.
